Anger over uranium mining in Niger
In Arlit, Niger, near a huge uranium mine, residents live in areas that exceed the radioactivity of the Chernobyl prohibited zone.
Fueled by uranium originating in particular from Africa, the largest uranium conversion plant in Europe rejects tens of thousands of tonnes of waste, three kilometers from the city center of Narbonne in France.
Despite the bans, a team of journalists, helped by scientists, investigated in the two countries and took dozens of samples to find out more about the pollution of the uranium which fuels our nuclear power plants. Their conclusions will be taken up by the media, will be part of the political debate and will serve as evidence for citizens who file complaints to preserve their environment and their health.
